Last week was a week like none other: got word from my Minneapolis NCAA boss that he recommended me for the 2018 D3 Championship playoff Tourny. At the end of the week, I became a Division 1 umpire! Division 1 umpire assigner, Rich Fetchiet, sent me two Conference weekend assignments in the Summit League! To top that off, he sent me a Big 10 non-con game!
I owe you many thanks! So grateful for the work you've given me in the American Association over the last two years. My confidence has increased immeasurably!

Many people in the world may not consider being an umpire a true profession. Well, don’t tell the
instructors and support staff of PUC that is the case. They are truly Professionals in every sense of the
word. The desire, passion and time all of these individuals give of themselves clearly shows in the results
that are achieved by the students of PUC. I am living proof of what can happen if you listen, work hard
and apply the on and off field lessons taught at PUC.
I am 44 years old and I attended the Milb umpire training academy in January 2016. I had been umpiring
for only one year at the High School level prior to attending school. I did well in school but was not
offered a job in minor league baseball. While there I was introduced to Kevin Winn and PUC. I decided to
attend PUC in February 2016. I knew this was the right choice for me as all of the instructors are minor
league umpires and many were the same instructors from the Milb Academy. The quality instruction
and attention to detail is second to none. The week of training flew past and before I knew it, it was “job
day.” I was really nervous and not sure if I was going to get hired. I tried to stay focused and apply all the
lessons I had learned. Well, I got a job! I was fortunate enough to be offered a job in the CanAm and
Atlantic Leagues of Independent Professional Baseball.
I enjoyed the friendship and the quality of instruction so much in 2016, I attended PUC again in 2017. It
was another great week of top quality instruction and friendship. I was really able to learn the ropes and
little things that I never even saw the first time I attended PUC. Attending PUC again gave me the skills
required to really “umpire.”
The story and success did not end with the end of camp. In April of 2017 I received a call from Minor
League Baseball asking me if I was available to work as a “fill-in” for the Eastern League Double A level
baseball. I was given the opportunity to work four games, including a full 3 game series for Minor League
Baseball. My dream come true!
I currently work for the CanAm and Atlantic Leagues of Independent Professional Baseball and the NCAA
Division 1,2 and 3.
I will be forever thankful and grateful to the instructors and entire staff of PUC. If not for their
dedication to each and every student of PUC and the profession of umpiring I would not be where I am
today. Thank you!

I would personally and could probably speak for anyone at Pro Umpire Camp in 2015, probably the best camp out there and bang for your buck. The instructors are absolutely amazing and with guys like Ron Teague and his staff you learn so much. They treat you like a pro and want you to succeed. I attended Pro Umpire Camp in 2014 and received a placement. For the young guys out there that want to make pro umpiring a profession PUC is the place to attend. Lance Schoenwald and Kevin Winn run a top-notch camp. I have met some great guys over the years. Thank you Pro Umpire Camp for getting me there and making me better.

The Pro Umpire Camp is one of a kind. The instruction is second to none and is as close to umpire school as possible. Ron and his staff kept the class on task but still managed to have fun in the process. The entire week was full of information and it has really improved my knowledge on three-man mechanics. I would recommend this camp to anybody wanting to improve their skill level as an umpire, whether it be in Little League, High School, College, or Pro Ball. This truly has been a great experience and has opened up several opportunities in the umpire world.

The day that I had my final evaluation at the umpire school was a pivotal point in my path as an umpire. Even though I was not offered a job, I knew my career wasn't over. I decided to go to Pro Umpire Camp to learn from the same great instructors I had at The Umpire School, and for a chance to work in professional baseball.
The week started with a meet and greet setting for all students and followed with the start of our exceptional classroom experience. The incorporation of hands on demonstrations of the three umpire system and detailed presentations of many important parts of umpiring was very helpful. The class was provided with a site that allowed immediate access to baseball fields, so the transition from classroom to field work was flawless. Great organization by staff and great cooperation students allowed us to make the most out of every repetition.
Pro Umpire Camp allowed me to meet great people that share similar experiences and a continued passion for umpiring. When the camp ended, I walked away as an improved umpire with a direction for my umpiring career.

This was my second year at PUC and I absolutely loved it. Having MiLB staff members was a huge improvement and a huge help for the students. Having Darren Spagnardi help teach the 3-man with Ron Teague made it easy for me to learn as well. I can't imagine 3-man being taught better anywhere else. The classroom was great but I could imagine it being crowded if you were to get more students, which I expect you to have next year. Lunch was delicious everyday. The hotel accommodations were also very nice. I was at baseball USA fields and that entire complex is outstanding. I thought the social gathering and BBQ was a fun idea.
The PUC staff worked extremely hard on the field with advice and critiques and it kept me motivated. Everything seemed very organized and I liked how the PUC staff grouped the guys with their job assignments for the evaluation. It was slightly nerve racking but efficient. I really don't have anything bad to say about the camp this year or last year. I wish the weather were better this year. I saw immense improvement in the camp over the year and I can’t wait to watch it grow.
My entire week at PUC was very informational and rewarding. I would recommend PUC to anyone looking on becoming a better umpire and who wants the right experience to get them to school and in the Minor Leagues.

I just wanted to take the time to thank the Pro Umpire Camp staff for a great camp and great instruction. This past March I attended 2015 Pro Umpire Camp and was instructed on the 3-man system. In the short time given, the instruction was well structured and gave me a great understanding of the 3-man system. The classroom portion helped me get an idea of how the system worked but was made clear when we went out on the field to work games. Working multiple games really gave me the chance to see different situations and with the staff available I was able to ask questions after the game. I would recommend this to any umpire that wants to better their skills.

The Pro Umpire Camp of 2015 was one of the stepping stones of my umpire career. I had just come back from The Umpire School and was told that there was not a spot for me. After a couple hours of disappointment, I had gotten some umpire buddies that have worked or are still working in minor league baseball that told me to go to Pro Umpire Camp. I reached out to Lance and Ron Teague contacted me. We discussed what a great opportunity it was for me to come to camp and get some more training and experience. So once I got off the phone with Kevin, I immediately signed up and booked my flight. I was dedicated to becoming a better umpire and everyday is a new day for me to get better.
After going through the drills and morning sessions at the camp it was like I finally knew what I was doing because I had learned and worked hard at learning the two man system. The cold, rain, hail, and wind were a part of the process. I learned so much from this camp and I am excited to work this summer using this knowledge that was taught to me by Ron and all of the instructors (Matt, Rich, Blake, Bryan, Clay and Micheal Carroll).
I will always remember what Rich told me the last night at the banquet at Umpire School when he said "I will see you soon. Very soon". Little did I know at the time I would see him in a month. Thank you to everyone that helped make this possible for all of us as students. I am extremely grateful and honored to not only learn from you all but to now say you are my friends.

PUC was an outstanding experience that helped me sharpen my trade as an umpire. I had a blast learning from a staff that is second to none of any professional camp offered. Ron Teague taught with so much enthusiasm that he ended the week with a voice that was so hoarse he could barely speak. I went into the week haven never worked a Three-man Umpiring System and left with a complete understanding of the rotations taught on the professional level.
If you’re looking for a camp to help maximize your full potential than PUC is the camp for you; put yourself out there and take advantage of learning from the best offered. Thank you to Kevin Winn and all my brothers at the PUC 2015. It’s fun don’t miss out on it, it was the best decision I’ve made in my umpiring career thus far.

My overall time at PUC was a great one. All the instructors are great and really want you to succeed. The instructors let you ask questions after every rep you have and if you don't understand the situation they will walk you thru it and help you until you understand and get it. The instructors work very hard for us to make our time enjoyable and to make sure that we get a lot of games that way we can be seen and get a lot of reps in.
You get to work full games not just one or two innings, so if you have a bad rotation you have time to redeem yourself and learn from your mistakes. The classroom setting was laid back and Ron made it fun by keeping us involved and hands on by letting us come up to the board and doing rotations, that way everybody could learn from everybody else. The food was great you had a different meal catered in everyday and we never had a bad meal.
Kevin and Lance do a great job with their camp and make sure everybody is taking care of, and really treat you like family from day one. I highly recremend PUC to anybody any age you will get the same treatment as everybody else and will have a great time.

I had a great experience at PUC for the week I was there. Meeting new people and seeing life long friends again was awesome. The whole week went smooth in my opinion. We worked hard on trying to master the 3 man system in just a few short days before we showed what we had on the fields over the weekend. I was really happy with the way the instructors taught us. When you did a good job, they let you know about it. When you did a not so good job, they kept you in a positive mind set. I think all umpire schools need to imitate PUC by the way they do games. Getting in the flow of things and showing what you got over 7 innings instead of cramming it all into 1 inning helps out a lot, I believe.
It was hard leaving my good friends again, but I'm excited to see some of them at the league meeting coming up soon!

My experience at Pro Umpire School was very educational. The instructors were incredibly helpful and very hands-on. I appreciate that I had the opportunity to learn from Ron, Kevin, Lance and the other instructors. The instructors went out of their way to help me advance in my career and in life. This is the best three-man camp for umpires to learn the system thoroughly. Camp attendees receive invaluable reps on the drill field. Umpires receive feedback after every drill. I cannot express how much this camp has helped me in my career as an umpire.

This past week at your 2015 Pro Umpire Camp was one that I will never forget. This camp will change my life forever. All of the staff taught me and 54 other umpires how to umpire the 3-man system in a well-structured, short period of time. Not only did we get great instruction, we all got an opportunity to show our stuff and earn a job.
I was one who got the great news of being able to work for Kevin Winn in the American Association Independent Professional League. This is a huge step in the direction of developing my career and following my path to the Bigs. I will never forget the instruction and encouragement you and your staff provided to all of us. If anyone were to ask me if they should attend this clinic, I would highly recommend it! Thank you and the entire staff for a great week!

My experience at PUC was great! Lance, Kevin, and Ron put together a top notch staff of instructors who have years of professional baseball umpiring experience. They were all very approachable as well as professional and really care about developing each student into the best umpire he/she can be.
The “Umpire School” style of classroom work in the morning (learning the 3 man system) and then going out on the drill field and applying it in the afternoon, is the most effective and beneficial way of operating that I have seen at any camp. I highly would highly recommend this camp to all umpires, especially those who are trying to advance their careers and get into professional baseball.

I want to take the time to thank you, Lance and all the others involved in putting on the camp for inviting me to participate.
I was very impressed by the way in which you handled and treated people. You were all more than fair and treated everyone with respect and dignity which, to me, is the signature of a first class organization run by first class people. It is very reassuring and very encouraging to know that this is the basis on which you operate.
I'm very excited and honored to have a chance to work with and for you this coming season as a local umpire.

In February of this year I attended the Pro Umpire Camp. Since I began umpiring in 1993 I have attended numerous camps and clinics, but I found this particular camp to be the most useful for the level of baseball that I am calling today.
Many of the camps and clinics available to umpires are conducted by current or former major league umpires. While these major league umpires have a wealth of information, many of their suggestions are more suited for major league baseball. The suggestions and recommendations given at the Pro Umpire Camp were valuable in preparing me for my first season in the American Association. I found it quite valuable to be evaluated by current and former staff members and umpires from the American Association. Additionally, the changes that were suggested in plate and base mechanics at the Pro Camp were constructive and helpful.
I would definitely recommend Pro Umpire Camp to anyone interested in improving their mechanics and learning the ins and outs of independent baseball.

The 2007 Pro Umpire Camp was a thoughtful, well-organized clinic that greatly solidified my understanding of the three-umpire system. I appreciated that Lance and his staff presented course material in a variety of ways, always clearly and methodically, to make sure it was understood by umpires of every learning style.
Each student had multiple opportunities, both slowly and at game speed, to practice the mechanics taught, and the staff did a great job of making sure any and every question was answered quickly and correctly. Although there was a lot to cover on the field in the limited time available, there was also room in the curriculum for discussion of off-field aspects of professional umpiring, which I found extremely useful this past season.
Additionally, I was impressed that some inclement weatherdidn't slow down the Pro Umpire Camp at all; Lance obviously had several contingency plans and I didn't feel that any time was wasted when we did get some rain. I strongly recommend the Pro Umpire Camp for umpires wishing to improve their understanding and implementation of three-man mechanics at any level.

As a professional umpire I must say that going to the Pro Umpire Camp is a such an amazing opportunity for umpires of any level. If you have only umpired Little League, or if your the most veteran experienced umpire, the pro-umpire clinic is for you. The Pro-Umpire clinic caters to all umpires, from their classroom clinics, to their on the field clinics.
Not only are you being watched and instructed by some of the best umpires inProfessional Baseball and College baseball, but the feedback that they give you is remarkable, and I can assure you that when you leave the clinic you will not only become a better Umpire, but have gained and learned so much that when you go back to your association back at home you can show your fellow Umpires the material you have learned and gained while at camp.
The Staff at the Pro-Umpire Clinic cater to your needs, from their classroom session, to their on field training to your time on the field during live games. I highly recommend this clinic to any umpire who wants to work on improving themselves no matter the level of baseball you have done.

In February of 2008, I attended the Pro Umpire Camp conducted by Lance Schoenwald and Kevin Winn, among others. Going into the camp, I had very little experience as an umpire to rely on and thought I may have taken on more than I could handle, but tried anyway. The only plus for me was being knowledgeable about the 2 man system. At Pro Umpire Camp, the staff was able take my knowledge of the 2 man system, build on top of that, and develop excellent 3 man system fundamentals in me as well others. Later on, we were able to take those fundamentals learned in the classroom and use them on the field as we got an opportunity to work some college games.
The staff did such a great job that I was able to shift, rotate, and position myself appropriately and confidently on the field. I was able to put my new skills to the test, outside of the camp by working a college game with a 3 man crew, while all my other games used two man. The staff helped me so much that I was able to fit into the 3 man system without a hitch. Another great thing about the camp was the ability to interact with staff and other students from across the country. It's always a plus to be able to talk and share information with colleagues in other parts of the country.
In my eyes, there was a huge difference in my ability before and after the camp. After the camp was completed, I was more experienced, more knowledgeable, and more confident than before. Even if your not looking for a job, this camp can make a great improvement in any umpire's ability. Thank you, Lance.

I wanted to write to you to express my gratitude to you and your staff involved in the Pro Umpire Camp. I attended the camp last February in Shreveport, Louisiana. The camp was extremely well organized, despite very uncooperative weather. The drills were to the point and helped all students learn the mechanics not only properly, but swiftly as well. All the drills- field, cage, and situational- prepared me for the caliber of baseball I umpired in the Can-Am League this past summer. Your camp gave me the confidence to feel that I belonged on the professional baseball field and allowed me to umpire to the best of my ability. Thanks for being my gateway to professional baseball.

In February 2008 I had the opportunity to attend the Pro Umpire camp in Shreveport LA. This camp was instrumental in teaching me the basics of the three man system of umpiring. Attendance at this clinic has been instrumental in enhancing not only my learned skills as an umpire, but has also allowed me to umpire in venues where it was a necessity to know the three umpire system. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone wanting to enhance their abilities as an umpire
